Macedo, Dennis of Hingham, died on Wednesday, January 27, 2010. Beloved husband of Patricia (McCloskey) Macedo of Hingham. Devoted father of Dennis Macedo and his wife Carol of Havertown, PA, Michael Macedo and his companion Corinne Walsh of Plymouth and Joe Macedo of Arlington, Va. Cherished grandfather of Amanda, Christopher and Nycole Macedo. Predeceased by his sisters and brothers and lovingly remembered by his nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Dennis grew up in New Bedford and moved to Hingham in 1958. In his early years he worked for Sears Roebuck, traveling to both Mexico and Brazil as a young executive. During his time in Brazil, with the help of a few associates, he proudly initiated the opening of the first chain of Supermarkets. More recently, he worked as a Senior Executive for many years at Old Mr. Boston, retiring in the early 1980’s. He took great pride in having gone back to school as an adult, graduating from Bentley College. Dennis was an active reader and knowledgeable in the financial markets. Dennis and his loving wife have been proud residents of the Bradley Woods neighborhood since 1958. Dennis was often known to express appreciation for the sense of community and helpfulness he enjoyed while living there. The family also wishes to express their deep sense of gratitude to the members of the Bradley Woods Community for their many acts of kindness and generosity over the years. He will be sadly missed by his friends and family. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours Sunday from 2-4 PM in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), HINGHAM. A life celebration service will be held in the funeral home Monday at 10:15 AM, prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Paul’s Church, Hingham at 11 AM. Burial in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Hingham. In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Dennis may be made to Bentley University, Office of University Advancement, 175 Forest Street, Waltham, MA 02452.
