Dennis G. Farragher

Dennis G. Farragher, of Weymouth, formerly of South Boston and Dorchester, died December 28, 2020.

Dennis graduated from South Boston High School with a certificate in auto body in 1956. Growing up in Southie Dennis’s first love was swimming. He spent much of his childhood at the Boys Club of Boston participating in competitive swimming alongside his older brothers. After high school he was drafted to serve in the US Army. After his army service he went on to pursue his passion for cars by working as a bodyman. He loved antique cars most of all and enjoyed going to car shows whenever possible. At every show he was always on the lookout for his favorite ‘57 T-Bird. Dennis loved to visit his old neighborhood in Southie. A day trip to Castle Island started with a stop at Sullivan’s. He would enjoy his hot dog while watching the planes fly in and out of Logan and the day always ended with a drive past the family home on Telegraph Street. Dennis’ had a second career working for the Town of Weymouth DPW for over 20 years. He was a fixture around town where he put up the flags on Veterans Day, he painted lines, erected signs and plowed snow. He was a true townie.

Dennis was fiercely devoted to his family. He and Janet never missed any of their grandchildren’s sporting events, activities or school functions. He was there for every milestone. The same applied to his extended family. He never missed a wedding, birthday party, 4th of July or Christmas party. They looked forward to each and every celebration. Dennis and Janet would be spotted on the dance floor most of the night. Spending time with family was the highlight of his life.

Beloved husband of Janet (Curreri) Farragher of Weymouth. Devoted father of John Farragher of Colorado, Denise Hall and her husband Brian of Hingham and Christine Farragher and her husband Ray Merry of Colorado. Cherished Grandpa of Matthew, Kathryn and Nathan. Loving brother of Peter Farragher of Brockton and the late Christine Panioto, Annabelle Nee, Franny Smith, Claire Green, Joan Sands, Pauline O’Malley, James Farragher, John Farragher and Kevin Farragher. Also survived by many generations of nieces and nephews.
