Denise Marie Francoeur-Walker

Our beloved Denise Francoeur-Walker passed peacefully from this life on July 21st 2024 at her home in Braintree, Massachusetts.

She was a life-long Braintree resident who graduated from Braintree High School and Quincy College with a degree in Nursing. Denise was a Registered Nurse (RN) who made a significant impact on the lives of others at Glover Memorial Hospital in Needham, MA. As a nurse, Denise provided selfless care to her patients who noticed Denise’s compassionate nature and her dedication to serving others in need.

As a single mother at the time to her daughter Jaime, who is developmentally delayed and requires full-time care, Denise gradually reduced her work hours so she could provide the round-the-clock care to her top priority, Jaime. Denise was a loving and caring mother and a fierce advocate for Jaime.

Denise loved all kinds of animals but was particularly dedicated to finding adoptive homes for stray cats. In her 30+ years of advocacy, she found homes for well over 100 cats.

Caring, kind, and charitable by nature, Denise completed several 20-mile Walk for Hunger events to raise funds for Project Bread and several Walks for Wednesday’s Child to support special needs adoptions.

In her leisure time, Denise loved crocheting blankets (and donated dozens of them to cat shelters). She also enjoyed day trips with her husband Charles, attending plays, keeping family traditions like watching holiday movies (“Christmas Vacation” was a must), classic TV (“I Love Lucy,” “The Waltons”) having a good cup of tea in her pajamas, walking for exercise, and spending time with family and friends.

Denise is survived by her husband of 16 years Charles Walker Jr., her daughter Jaime Francoeur, her parents Arthur and Alice Francoeur, her brother Joseph Francoeur and his wife Sophia Francoeur, her brother Gregory Francoeur and his wife Alison Francoeur, her niece Jasmine Francoeur, and nephews Sean Francoeur and Ryan Francoeur, as well as loving friends and extended family. 

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Wednesday, July 31, 2024 from 8:30-10:30 AM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Funeral Service will be held in the funeral home at 10:30 AM on Wednesday prior to the burial of Denise at Blue Hill Cemetery in Braintree.
