Alty, David T. of Quincy, 73, passed away peacefully at Kindred Alzheimer’s Nursing Home surrounded by his loving family after a long and courageous battle with Lewy Body Dementia and Parkinson’s Disease. Born and raised in Norwood, he was the son of the late Annie (Wall) and Thomas Alty. David lived in Norwood for over 50 years before moving to Quincy in 1991. He graduated from Norwood High School in 1956. Beloved husband of Sandra (Sayce, DuPont). Beloved father of Therese Hastry of N.Attleboro, David J. Alty and his wife, Susan, of Abington, Maribeth Aron of Upton, and Brian S. Alty of Sandwich, two step-children, Eric DuPont and his wife, kathy of California, and Brian DuPont of Quincy. Proud Grandpa of David and Nicole Hastry, Christopher and Jeffrey Alty, Casey and Emily Aron, and Lukas Alty. Dear brother of Kay Barry and her husband Ed, of Florida, Helen Ivatts and her husband, Bob, of Norwood, and the late Thomas Alty. Also survived by his former wife, Claire Alty of Norwood. David was a proud member of Local # 103 IBEW for over 53 years working in many various construction jobs. He was last employed at the Boston Globe for 15 years and had also served his country in the early 1960’s in the U.S. Army. In his spare time, he enjoyed boating, clamming, fishing, at his Swansea cottage. He also enjoyed travelling, going to casinos, playing cards, tennis, and good times with his family. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Sunday 2-6 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY, followed by his Funeral Service at 6 p.m. Burial will be held on Saturday, September 1, 2012 at 11 AM in Melrose Cemetery, Brockton. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Lewy Body Dementia Association, 912 Killian Hill Road, SW, Lilburn, GA 30047
