David G. "Whitey" Robison

David "Whitey" Robison, a cherished father, grandfather, and beloved member of the Weymouth community, passed away surrounded by love and laughter, just as he lived his life, on January 21, 2025. He was 84.

Born and raised in Dorchester, he was the son of Charles and Mary (Caffrey) Robison. Whitey spent over 50 years making Weymouth a brighter place with his kindness and unwavering good humor.

Whitey's life was marked by his strong work ethic and dedication to his family. For many years, he worked for the United States Postal Service. Later, his love for sports led him to a dream job at Fenway Park, where he was affectionately known as "the good Whitey".

An active member of St. Jerome Church, Whitey's faith was a cornerstone of his life. He served as a Eucharistic Minister at South Shore Hospital, living his spirituality through acts of kindness and community involvement. His commitment to his faith was matched by his passion for sports, a love he shared with his family and friends. He was often seen (and mostly heard) cheering heartily at his grandchildren's games. Whitey loved being a Papa, especially at Christmas when he delighted in giving everyone stockings loaded with individually wrapped gifts selected lovingly by him.

Whitey's membership in the Moose Club, where he volunteered to deliver gift baskets to families in need, was a testament to his love for camaraderie and community. He was a competitive game player and bowler, always ready for a friendly challenge. His love for the outdoors shone through in softball leagues, family camping trips. and his enthusiasm for walking and yard sales, where he could be found bargaining with a grin.

His loyal dog Shiner was a constant companion and together they enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. Whitey's sense of adventure also took him to far-off places with his beloved wife, Mimi. Together, they traveled to Alaska, Aruba, cruised the Carribean seas and European rivers, and basked in the Hawaiian sun, making memories to last a lifetime during their 62 years of marriage.

In his final year and a half, Whitey embraced life at his home with his Fairing Way family, where his laughter and stories will continue to resonate. His competitive spirit never waned, whether he was collecting coins or engaging in a game of cards.

Whitey will be remembered for his loving, good natured personality, and the humor that endeared him to all. He leaves behind a legacy of joy, a community enriched by his presence, and a family that will carry his love and laughter in their hearts forever. His life was a testament to the power of positivity and the impact one person can have on so many. David "Whitey" Robison's memory will be cherished and celebrated, as he was truly one of a kind.
