David N. Baker

David N. Baker of Bridgewater, formerly of Quincy, died April 12, 2015 at the age of 84.

David served in the U.S. Army of Occupation in Germany from 1949 to 1952. He was a former member of the Mass. State Guard and U.S. Naval Reserve, Submarine Division as well as the National Amvets and a lifetime member of the 97th Signal Battalion. David owned and operated Dave’s Atlantic in Quincy and also worked for numerous other garages on the South Shore. David will be remembered as one of a kind. Always ready with a smile and a laugh, he was a good, kind, honest man whose word could always be counted on. The last and youngest of the six sons of Mary Stewart Baker, who all served this country and left a legacy of that service with their children.

Beloved husband of the late Ina Mae (MacKenzie) Baker and Shirley M. (Faulkner) Baker of Bridgewater. Proud father of John S. Baker of Woodridge, IL, Janet E. Riley and husband David of Des Moines, IA, David N. Baker, Jr. of Fort Worth, TX, and Deborah Baker of North Weymouth. Stepfather of John Petzoldt and wife Carol, and Donna McCarthy. Grandfather of Sandra Hofer, Jennifer Baker, John Baker, Shelby Petzoldt, Sean, Dan and Ryan McCarthy. Great grandfather of Bill Hofer and Troy Mock. Also, he was a proud uncle to numerous nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Thursday 4-8 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home NORTH WEYMOUTH at 40 Sea Street (off RT.3A-Bicknell Sq.). Funeral service will be celebrated on Friday at 10:30 AM in the Quincy Point Congregational Church, 444 Washington St., Quincy. Burial in MA National Cemetery, Bourne at 1:45 PM. Donations in memory of David may be made to the USO, PO BOX 96860, Washington, DC, 20077 or Quincy Point Congregational Church.
