David L. Smart

David L. Smart of Weymouth passed away peacefully on September 1, 2023, at 83 years old. 

Born in Boston, David was the son of the late Francis and Helen Smart (O’Connor). He graduated from Weymouth High then served in the Navy for three years. He then went on to receive his bachelors degree in accounting at Suffolk University. In 1965, David married the love of his life, Kathleen. David was a CPA and worked as the Senior Vice President and Treasurer of South Boston Savings Bank for 23 years. He was a humble, kind, and generous man who loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was happiest when going out to breakfast or the 99 with family and going to Foxwoods with his brother-in-law Gary. 

Beloved husband of 47 years to the late Kathleen (Kelly). Loving father of Susan Smart of Pembroke, Karyn Smart of Hanson, and David Smart of Portland, Oregon; predeceased by his brother Francis Smart.  Amazing “Papa” to Sarah, Caileigh, Meaghan, Courtney and Connor. Also will be missed by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Friday 4-8 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home in South Weymouth at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital). A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Saturday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Francis Xavier Church, Weymouth at 10 AM. Burial in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Weymouth.

 In lieu of flowers, and in memory of David, take someone you love out to breakfast.
