David J. Mcneice

McNeice, David J. of Braintree, a former longtime resident of Hingham, died November 4, 2017.

David was a graduate of Quincy High School and Boston University, where he was a member of Alpha Kappa Psi Fraternity. He was an Air Force Veteran of the Korean Era serving in Germany during the “Cold War” and occupation of Germany. David was an employee of the Proctor & Gamble sales department as a salesman and account manager for more than 30 years. He grew up in Quincy, but was a longtime resident of Hingham and was the past president of the Hingham Jaycees and a member of the 4th of July Committee for 26 years. He was the Co-Chariman of the Bicentennial Parade in 1975 and 1976 and also the Chairman in 1985 for the 350th Town Celebration. He was a longtime player, manager, and league president of Hingham and Norwell Softball and played in the Over The Hill Softball League in Braintree until age 50. David was a member of the Hingham VFW and Weymouth Elks where he was a member of the “Dream Come True” committee that sent seriously ill children and their families on trips of their choice. He was also Chairman of the Monday Night Elks Golf League for many years and a member of the Rockland Golf Course.

Son of the late James H. and Margaret McNeice, but brought up by uncle and aunt Patrick and Elsie McNeice of Wollaston from age 2. Beloved husband of the late Florence (Barry) McNeice. Loving father of Judith LaChance of Danvers and her partner Kenneth Mielcarz and late David J. McNeice, Jr. who died a hero in 1982, saving a man’s life. Cherished “Papa” of Jessica Grillo. Caring brother of Michael F. McNeice of FL.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Wednesday 4-8 PM in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), HINGHAM. Funeral service will be celebrated on Friday at 10 AM in Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, Hingham. Burial in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Hingham.
