David J. Hickey

Hickey, David J., Sr. of Quincy, January 10, 2005. The beloved Husband of Joan (Hayes) Hickey. Loving Father of Donna J. Smith and her husband Tom of Pembroke, David J. Hickey and his wife Angela of Winthrop and Dennis J. Hickey of Maui,HI. Devoted Grandfather of Caroline Hickey of Winthrop. Brother of Helen Lavoie of Sandwich , Margaret McLellan of Braintree, John Hickey of Hyde Park, Ruth Payson of South Boston, Anne”Nancy” Hickey of Dorchester and the late Mary, Vincent and Arthur Hickey. Mr. Hickey is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Mr. Hickey was very involved in Quincy Youth Sports. He coached Quincy Youth Hockey leagues as well as Quincy Youth Baseball teams. He was active in the Koch Club throughout Quincy for many years. Mr. Hickey was a Eucharistic minister at Sacred Heart Church in North Quincy. His neighbors remember him as the unofficial mayor of Royal Street and he was known as “DJ1”. Mr. Hickey died at his home after a battle with ALS- Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosos – Lou Gherig’s disease. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral from the Keohane Funeral Home 785 Hancock St. , WOLLASTON Friday at 9 AM. Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church, N. Quincy at 10 AM. Visiting hours Wednesday & Thursday 4-8PM. Burial in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Mr. Hickey may be made to Hospice of the South Shore 100 Baystate Drive P.O. Box 9060 Braintree, MA 02184 or to ALS Compassionate Care , P.O.
