Lally, David F. of Randolph, formerly of Atlanta and Braintree, died on September 7, 2023. He was 65. David was born in Weymouth and was a graduate of Braintree High School. Beloved husband to the late Genevieve Lally. Son of the late Francis and Mary Lally. Brother of James E. Lally and his wife Elaine of Stow, Barbara Larson and the late Margaret “Peggy” Kirkwood. Son-in-law of William Salisbury and Joanne Salisbury of Braintree, brother-in-law William Salisbury III and his family of Braintree, brother-in-law Sean Salisbury and his family of Putnam CT, and his sister-in-law MaryEllen (Anya) Eaceman of Boston.
David attended East Coast Aero Technical School and carried his skills into a lucrative, rewarding career in airline mechanics. David worked for Eastern Airlines and Northwest Airlines. He had a strong fascination with mechanics and hands-on projects, building model rockets. When the airline industry shifted in the early 2000’s, David and Jenny Lally moved from Atlanta back to New England where David was a fleet mechanic for UPS. His wife, high school sweetheart and love of his life, Genevieve Salisbury Lally passed away in 2015. David retired from UPS in 2018.
No matter where he traveled or lived, David was an avid Boston sports fan. David could be found most Saturdays and Sundays watching sports at his father-in-law’s house in Braintree, attired in the T-shirt of whatever Boston team was playing. He enjoyed family gatherings and was a willing and able helper to his mother-in-law or whoever was doing the cooking. David was known fondly to his nieces and nephew and great-nephew as “Uncle Dave”. Uncle Dave was known for his good sense of humor and a humble, gentle manor that especially endeared him to the younger generation. David also enjoyed a ride in the Camaro on a beautiful day. He will be missed by all.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a graveside service for David at the Braintree Cemetery on Plain St. at 11 AM on Saturday, September 23, 2023.
