David A. Cotter

David A. Cotter, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother in law, uncle and friend, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2025, after a long battle with dementia.

David had a distinguished career at New York Life Boston, where he dedicated many years of service. Throughout his life, he was known as a quiet man with a lovely smile and a twinkle in his blue eyes, which reflected his gentle nature. 

Family meant everything to David. He cherished spending quality time with his loved ones and always wanted them close by. He is survived by his devoted wife, Kathleen Cotter, and his son, David J. Cotter and Maria of Norwell . Cherished grandfather to Matthew Cotter and  his wife Jade, Nathan Cotter and Calissa Cotter, great grandfather to Owen Cotter. Loving brother to Jim Cotter and Steve Cotter. Loving Brother in law to Dick and Debi Danner and loving Uncle to Carlin Danner He is predeceased in death by his loving daughter Laurie Cotter of Florida, whose memory continues to illuminate the hearts of all who knew her. 

David took great pride in his accomplishments, particularly his beautiful lily garden at home, where he cultivated a variety of different lilies that blossomed under his care. In addition to gardening, he enjoyed hobbies such as golf and attending local concerts, where he loved to listen to classic rock. Though he may have been a terrible dancer, he couldn't resist tapping his fingers and grooving to the rhythm of his favorite songs.

A long-time member of the Weymouth Elks, David was known for his warm spirit and the joy he brought to those around him. His passing will be felt by many who had the privilege of knowing him.

As we remember David A. Cotter, we celebrate a life well-lived and the love he shared with those he held dear.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Saturday 2/22/2025 from 12 PM - 2:00 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital). Funeral service will be celebrated on Saturday 2/22/2025 at 2 PM in McDonald Keohane Funeral Home, SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main St. (Rt. 18 opp. South Shore Hospital) , Weymouth.
