Daniel W. Desmond, Sr. of Weymouth passed away in the presence of his loving family on February 10, 2023. He was 84.
Born in Boston in 1938, he was the son to the late Patrick and Johanna (O’Sullivan) Desmond. Daniel grew up in Boston with many friends including his wife, Lois. The two married in 1968 and started a family. As the family grew, they moved to Weymouth, where they raised their four beautiful children together. Daniel was a member of the Glaziers and Glassworkers Local #1044 and was a 34-year employee of the Boston Housing Authority. He was a former Town Meeting Member and had an active interest in his community. He took great joy in planting and tending to his garden and adored spending time with his grandchildren, going to their school and sporting events and encouraging them even after his illness prevented him from fully participating in their activities. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Beloved husband of Lois D. Desmond for 54 years. Cherished father of Patrick J. Desmond and wife Valerie of Braintree, Mary T. Lammi and husband Eric of Holliston, Daniel W. Desmond Jr. and wife Heather of Weymouth and Elizabeth A. Alger, and husband Christopher of Avon. Proud Papa to his grandchildren, David Desmond, Megan Desmond, Jack Desmond, Emma Desmond, Eli Lammi, Keira Lammi, Christopher Alger and Sophia Alger. Son of the late Patrick J. and Johanna Desmond. Loving brother of Mary McGrail of Hull, Eileen Desmond Bankowski of Dorchester, Ann Quinn of Hanover, Margaret Clifford of San Antonio, Texas, Denis Desmond of Boston, the late Sr. Joan Desmond, SND, the late Kathleen Hayden, of Hingham and the late Patrick Desmond and Robert Desmond of Dorchester. He is survived by several nieces and nephews as well as many great nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Wednesday 4-8 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital). Funeral service will be celebrated on Thursday at 11 AM in McDonald Keohane Funeral Home, SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main St. (Rt. 18 opp. South Shore Hospital), Weymouth.
