Daniel G. O’Connor

O’Connor, Daniel (Buddy) G.  of East Bridgewater, formerly of Dorchester and Whitman, passed away August 3, 2023 after a period of failing health at the age of 82. Buddy was born in Boston to the late Dennis and Hannah (Tobin) O’Connor. He grew up in Dorchester where he met the love of his life, Gayle. He worked at Universal Auto Body, becoming the owner for many years, while raising his family in Whitman. Upon retiring, he relocated to Florida before moving back to Massachusetts to be with his growing family. Never one to be idle, his second career was with the Massachusetts State Lottery where he worked for many years before again retiring. He enjoyed watching the New England Patriots and was a friend of Bill W. for 38 years. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, in particular his grandchildren.

Beloved husband of 52 years to the late Gayle I. (Cohen) O’Connor. Loving father of Daniel O’Connor, Jr. of Whitman and David O’Connor of Bridgewater. Dear brother of Gerard O’Connor of Dorchester, Patricia Tuohy of Mashpee, Dorothy Spring of Falmouth, and predeceased by siblings Dennis O’Connor, Jr., Mary Niedzialkowski, Catherine Bullock, Josephine McNeice, Paul O’Connor, Francis O’Connor, Marjorie Alter, and Joseph O’Connor. Cherished Papa to Paige and Tyler O’Connor. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. 

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Funeral Mass in St. John the Evangelist Church in East Bridgewater on Friday, August 25, 2023 at 11:30 AM.
