Dana R. Johnsen

Mr. Dana R. Johnsen, of Weymouth, passed away peacefully on February 26, 2021.

Born in Quincy, the son of the late Olaf Norman and Hester (Harrington) Johnsen, Dana carried on the family business,  O M Johnsen & Son,  for many years. He then embarked on a rewarding 30 year career as a Mechanical Engineer at Northeastern University before retiring to take care of his beautiful wife Priscilla. Dana was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting, fishing, archery, camping, and nature and cherished the labor of love of maintaining his home, yard, and gardens. Dana loved antiquity and was an enthusiastic collector and dealer of antique tools. Dana just loved anything hands on. 

Dana was also a former Trustee and Deacon at Old South Union Church in Weymouth and was also on the rebuilding committee when the church burned down in 1989.

The most important part of Dana’s life was his wife, children, and grandchildren. He loved holidays and and was a dedicated family man and especially being a wonderful caregiver to his wife these past 10 years. Dana will be deeply missed by all those that knew and loved him.

Beloved husband of 53 years to Priscilla (Barnes) Johnsen.

Loving father of Jana K. Johnsen and her husband, Eric Brown, of Boylston and Carl D. Johnsen of Weymouth. Cherished Grampa of Quentin, Lily, Noah, Lucas, Cole, Avery, Joanna, Katie, and Alex.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Wednesday 4-8 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital).

Funeral services and burial will be private.
