O’Day, Cornelius “Connie” of Quincy, a World War II Army Veteran, passed away December 13, 2011. Beloved husband of the late Margaret “Peg” O’Day. Loving father of Robert O’Day and his wife Susan of Hingham, Kevin O’Day of Quincy, Colleen Manning and her husband Edwin of Scituate and Debra O’Day of Quincy. Brother of Catherine “Kay” Mogan of Burlington, VT and the late Mary Hobin, Thomas O’Day and James O’Day. Devoted grandfather of Colin O’Day of Quincy, Michael Manning of South Boston, Matthew Manning of Scituate, Gregory Carnrick of Arlington, VA, Kristin Giacalone and her husband John of Peabody. Cherished great-grandfather of Tyler and Victoria Giacalone. Connie was born in Boston and was a graduate of Roxbury Memorial High School. He lived in Dorchester for many years before settling in Quincy where he raised his family. Connie worked for Continental Baking/ Wonder Bread for 45 years before retiring in 1982. He was a loyal sports fan especially the Boston Red Sox. Connie was a former member of the North Quincy Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed gardening and most importantly he treasured spending time with his children and grandchildren who meant the world to him. He certainly will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Sunday 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Monday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Ann’s Church, Quincy at 10 AM. Burial in MA National Cemetery, Bourne. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Connie’s name to Old Colony Hospice, One Credit Union Way, Randolph, MA 02368.
