Cora “Cody” E. Dolan

Cora Emeline (Cody) Dolan, 93, died peacefully on Oct. 4, 2016,  after a long illness at Harbor House Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Hingham, Massachusetts.  Cody is now at home with the Lord in her Eternal home.

Born October 22, 1922 in Greenbush, Massachusetts, Cody was the eldest child of the late Wilson Seward and Marian Eliza Brown.  Cody graduated in 1940 from Scituate High School and went to work in Boston.  Cody was a war bride of the late Samuel B. Turner, Jr., who was killed in action (July 1944) during WWII.  Cody married Philip Briggs Dolan of Norwell, Massachusetts in 1946.  Cody and Phil moved to Hollywood, Florida in 1952 where the family resided for 40 years.  Cody worked for 28 years as secretary to the Senior Pastor at Hollywood Presbyterian Church, Hollywood, Florida, where she was a long standing member.  Cody was a talented musician and played the Church organ for many years.  She also spent much time singing in the Church choir.  Cody was gifted with the art of hospitality and loved entertaining friends and family in her home.  Cody also enjoyed the hobby of genealogy research.  After retiring in 1992, Cody and Phil returned back to Massachusetts.

 In addition to her parents, Cody was preceded in death by her husband, Phil, of 49 years. Cody was also preceded in death by a sister, Julia F. Hoffman, and brother-in-law’s William R. Hoffman and Frederick Houghton.  Cody is survived by her son, Robert John Dolan (Linda) of Hendersonville, NC; Grandson, Brian Robert Dolan (Loni Elizabeth), of Houston, Texas; and Great Grandchildren Taylor Jade, Liam Briggs and Declan Asher, of Houston, Texas.  Cody is also survived by her brother, John (Bub) R. Brown (Ethel) and sister Laura M. Houghton, of Scituate, Massachusetts.

There will be a graveside service and interment at Trinity Park Cemetery in Scituate, Massachusetts on Friday, October 14, at 11:30 a.m..

The family would like to wholeheartedly thank the staff at Harbor House for the unconditional love and care they gave Cody during the time in which she resided there.
