Coleman Dillane

Dillane, Coleman “Colie” of Weymouth, passed away February 26, 2013 at the age of 95.

Originally from Inis Mo`r, Aran Islands, Ireland, he came to the Dorchester area in 1957, where he and his wife Bridget lived for over 40 years. In his early years he served as a Medical Orderly in the Irish Army. He retired in 1979 after working many years as a laborer for the Horan Construction Co., Dorchester and was a member of the Local 223. Mr. Dillane was a devout Catholic and had been a longtime member of St. Mark’s Church in Dorchester and most recently attended St. Francis Xavier Church in Weymouth. He enjoyed taking long walks, dancing to Irish music, playing the harmonica and the jaw harp. He will be sadly missed. 

Beloved husband of 54 years to the late Bridget (O’Donnell) Dillane. Devoted father of Kevin Dillane and his wife Penny of Maine, Michael Dillane of Alabama, Ann Marie Feeney and her husband Eddie of Weymouth,and John Dillane and his wife Patricia of Abington. Cherished “Papa” of Melody, Matthew, Krista and great-grandson Landon. Loving brother of Margaret Concannon of Dorchester and predeceased by 9 brothers and sisters. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. 

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Friday 4-8 PM in the McDonald Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hosp.)  Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 9 AM on Saturday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Francis Xavier Church, Weymouth at 10 AM. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Dorchester. Donations in memory of Coleman may be made to Catholic Charities, Attn: Holly Clark, 51 Sleeper Street, Boston, MA 02210.
