Loving father of Denise Crowley Treier & her husband Tim of of Brownstown, PA, Diane Maguire & her husband Joe of Sugarhill, GA, Debra Rutter & her husband David of Stevens, PA, Rita Arsenault & her husband Jim of Suwanee, GA, Marty “Martha” Gallant & her husband Geoff of Quincy, Clement Crowley & his wife Cheryl of Carver, Timothy Crowley of Orlando, FL and John Crowley of South Boston. Brother of the late Frederick J. Crowley, Jr. Treasured grandfather of 26 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral from the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., WOLLASTON, Saturday at 9 AM. Funeral Mass in Holy Trinity Parish in Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, Quincy at 10 AM. Visiting hours Friday 2-4 & 7-9 PM. Burial in Milton Cemetery. Clem Crowley, 84 years old of Quincy, formerly of Dorchester passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Monday, March 27, 2006. Clem worked at the Boston Navy Yard and the “L” Street bathhouse in South Boston. His primary interest was boxing. He trained and seconded boxers for over 50 years traveling the world working with several top rated boxers. His hobby was racing homing pigeons which he began as a young boy and continued till his last days. He enlisted in the Air Force where he coached the boxing team. He became the first USAF and Olympic boxing coach in 1952. In 1953 he was voted USAF Coach of the Year. In 1992 he was inducted into the Ring 4 Hall of Fame. In May of 1994, in Washington D.C. at Boiling Air Force Base, he became the recipient of the United States Air Force boxing Hall of Fame Award at the annual Air Force reunion. On the same day one of his pigeons placed first in the annual Pigeon Club 600 mile race from Ohio. He was a member of Veteran Boxers Association Ring 4, the Braintree Racing Pigeon Club, the DAV and the American Legion. He was a communicant at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church in Quincy. Donations in memory of Clem may be made to Special Olympics of MA, PO Box 303, Hawthorne, MA 01937.
