English, Claire P. (Mullins), 88, of Holbrook, originally from South Boston, passed away on October 15, 2011, surrounded by her family. The beloved mother of Paul W. English of Alaska, originally from South Boston, and Kathleen C. English of Holbrook, originally from South Boston. Cherished grandmother of Mackenzie Claire English of Holbrook. Daughter of the late Thomas & Marguerite (Lee) Mullins. Sister of Louise A. Quirk of Scituate, Joseph R. Mullins of Milton and the late Robert J. “Moon” Mullins, Thomas J. Mullins, Marie C. Tradd, & John T. “Jack” Mullins. Claire is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Claire was a graduate of South Boston High School and Boston Business School. She worked for many years in the newspaper business. She was a longtime employee at the Boston Record, which later became the Boston Record-American and now currently is called the Boston Herald. Claire survived all the name changes. A lifetime love of dancing started for her at the Little House in South Boston and continued on throughout her life. Claire also had a strong passion for politics and current news. She was the go-to person if you needed an update on current affairs. Claire was also renowned for her kindness and generosity. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Claire was also a World War II veteran serving as a WAC with the United States Army Air Forces. She achieved the rank of Corporal. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Sunday, Oct. 23, 2011, from 2-6 p.m. at the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock Street, Quincy. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home on Monday at 8:45 a.m. prior to the Funeral Mass at St. Joseph’s Church, Holbrook at 10 am. Burial will be in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree
