Cheryl Ann (Goodrich) Cannell, of Hull, passed away peacefully in her home on Friday, December 13, 2024. She was 61.
Cheryl was born in Boston on March 22, 1963, and was the daughter of the late Robert and Patricia (Healey) Goodrich. She was raised in Jamaica Plain and Brookline. Cheryl attended local schools and graduated from Brookline High School with the Class of 1981.
Cheryl was known for her boundless compassion, her unwavering devotion to her family, and her passion for helping others. A Certified Nursing Assistant, Cheryl worked for Harbor House Habilitation and Nursing Center for 13 years and dedicated her life to caring for those in need. Whether it was comforting patients or offering a listening ear, her kindness and empathy were felt by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Cheryl was also deeply devoted to her family, as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. Her greatest joy in life was raising her two daughters, Deborah and Kelly, with her beloved husband, Mark. She cherished the time she had with them, creating a loving home, a lifetime of memories and countless family dinners. Her love for her late husband, Mark, was unmatched. Cheryl and Mark were married on August 17, 1985. They spent 40 years together before his passing in 2019. Cheryl was ecstatic to become a Nana to her grandchildren, Hadley and Declan. She lit up every time she saw them and was regularly on the hunt for presents to shower them with. They truly brought an incredible amount of joy into her life.
Cheryl had an incredible ability to make everyone feel seen, heard, and valued, and her family meant the world to her. Whether it was cheering on her loved ones at family events, hosting gatherings, or simply sharing moments of quiet joy, Cheryl's presence was a constant source of comfort and support.
One of Cheryl’s greatest joys was watching her soap operas, Hallmark movies, The Golden Girls and the Cooking Channel. She was known for her famous Buffalo Wings that drew people to her home for family parties and to watch sports games. She was also a passionate Boston Celtics fan, with a heart as big as her devotion to her team. You could often find Cheryl walking around Hull with her best four-legged friend, Lady, on their way to buy her favorite cash word scratch tickets. Cheryl and Lady had an inseparable bond. Lady could be found right by her side while Cheryl worked in her vegetable garden, sitting outside enjoying the nice weather or on the couch watching their shows.
Cheryl will be remembered for the love and devotion she had for everyone that came into her life.
Cheryl was the beloved wife of the late Mark K. Cannell, who died in 2019. She was the devoted mother of Deborah L. Cannell and her partner Robert Blair of Hull, and Kelly A. McNeill and her husband Kyle of Abington. Cheryl was the loving nana of Hadley and Declan McNeill, both of Abington. She was the dear sister of Patricia Goodrich, Janice Contrino, Karen Goodrich, all of Hull, Robert Goodrich of Brookline, and the late Doreen Goodrich. Cheryl is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, extended family, friends and her canine companion, Lady.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, from 4-8 PM in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), HINGHAM.
