Henwood, Charles J., Sr. of Quincy, July 3, 2007. Joining his loving wife, Mary Rose (Neary) who just died May 10th, 2007. Loving father of Charles J., Jr.& his wife Patricia of Quincy, Maryann Brooks & her husband Scott of Quincy, Janet M. Connelly & her husband Joseph of Rockland, Maureen O’Connor & her husband Michael of Quincy, and James M. Henwood of Quincy. Brother of Mrs. Bobby Collins of Pembroke and the late Mildred Connick. Brother in law of Arlene Lang of FL and Thomas and his wife Rosa Neary of Lawrence. “Papa Bear” to his beloved 7 grandchildren. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral from the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., WOLLASTON, Monday at 9 AM. Funeral Mass in Holy Trinity Parish in Most Blessed Sacrament Church, Sea Street, Quincy at 10 AM. Visiting hours Sunday 2-6 PM. Burial with full military honors in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne Monday at 12:45 PM. Mr. Henwood was a member and past Commander of the McKeon Post #146 and the American Legion Post #380. He was also a member of the Yankee Division, the Quincy Lodge of Elks, the MBTA Carman’s Union and the Holy Name Society at Most Blessed Sacrament Church in Quincy. He worked as a bus driver for the MBTA for over 25 years, was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and was the recipient of the Combat Infantry Badge in Korea. Fondly called “Papa Bear” by his seven grandchildren, Mr Henwood loved playing pool and playing cards. He also displayed his strong patriotism by helping any veteran in need and enjoyed cooking at the various Legion functions. Donations in memory of Mr. Henwood may be made to the Chelsea Soldiers Home, 91 Crest Avenue, Chelsea MA 02150.
