Doherty, Charles J. “Charlie” of Quincy, formerly of Hyde Park, January 7, 2010. The beloved husband of the late Rosemary P. (Durkin) Doherty. Former husband of Judith A. (Curran) Newton of W. Harwich. Father of Maryann Paskell and her husband James and John J. Doherty and his wife Karen, all of Hanover. Brother of Susan Champagne and her husband Paul of Braintree. Cherished Grampy to Justin, Tyler & Victoria Paskell and Madelyn & Christopher Doherty. Uncle of Lisa Mariano, Paul, Kevin and Peter Champagne. A graduate of North Quincy High School Class of 1957, he attended Newbury Junior College from 1975 -1976. He served in the United States Army from 1957 to 1962. Charlie was Past Grand Knight of North Quincy Knights of Columbus Council #2259. He was also a longtime member and manager at the Quincy Lodge of Elks #943. Charlie worked for the MBTA, was a member of the Carmen’s Union, and retired as an executive after 30 years of service. He will be remembered as a devoted father and grandfather. Charlie was a generous and loyal friend to all. A football pool master, he enjoyed golfing, shuffleboard, and family trips to Disney World. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours Sunday 2-6 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock Street, QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Monday, prior to the Funeral Mass in Saint Ann’s Church at 10 AM. Burial in New Calvary Cemetery, Boston. Donations in memory of Charlie may be made to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, P. O. Box 5584, Boston, MA 02205.
