Charles Henry Joy Jr.

Joy, Charles Henry, Jr. of Weymouth, passed away at home surrounded by family on February 21, 2023. He was 84 years old.

Born in Boston, MA, he was the son of the late Charles H. and Gertrude (Crawford) Joy.

Charlie was raised in South Boston, but lived in Weymouth for the past 53 years.  He served in both the US Marines and US Army, notably stationed in Germany, where he and Myna discovered their love for Liebfraumilch wine. He loved the ocean and was an avid boater, and he spent many summers during his childhood at his family’s cottage on Peddocks Island in Boston Harbor.  He was also an avid skier, spending winters at the cottage in Maine that he and Myna built together. Charlie would frequently tell stories about his adventures and experiences, a perfect combination of humor and wisdom. Above all else, though, was his family, and his greatest joys in life were his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Loving father of Chuck Joy and Adrienne Micks. Devoted grandfather of Courtney Keohan, Lindsay Joy, Megan Keohan, Cameron Joy, Brian Keohan, and great grandchildren, Krystianna Blue, Isabella Blue, Jazmya Blue, Kenneth Blue Jr., and Noelle Keohan. Predeceased by the love of his life and wife of 63 years, Myna in 2020 and son David in 1973.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Monday 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home NORTH WEYMOUTH at 40 Sea Street (off Route 3A – Bicknell Square). Funeral service will be celebrated at 12:00 PM. Burial in Old North Cemetery, Weymouth.
