Smith, Charles G., age 90, of Braintree, formerly of North Quincy, died January 6, 2018, after a period of declining health.

Beloved husband of 63 years of Barbara A. (Lawton) Smith.  Loving father of Janet MacDonald and her husband Ron of Quincy, Richard J. Smith and his wife Linda of Braintree, and Paul M. Smith and his wife Debra of Quincy.  In Heaven he joins his late siblings Mary Davis, Ann Scott, Ellen Richardson, and James, Gerard, Rev. Richard, and Paul Smith.  Loving grandfather to Patrick, Jason, Paul and Caitlin Smith and Jaclyn Ricardelli.  Great grandfather to Nora, Tobyn and Brody Smith and Reilly Gavin.  Son of the late Anna (Buckley) Smith and James Smith.  He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Charlie graduated from Mechanic Arts High School in 1944 and attended Northeastern University.  He was Past President and Owner of Stearns, Perry & Smith Co., for over 70 years.  A master electrician, he was a member of IBEW, Local 103.  Charlie was active in Sacred Heart Parish.  He was a Cub Master, a member of the Knights of Columbus, and an electrical advisor for Quincy Vo Tech.  He was also the treasurer of Squantum Yacht Club for 30 years.  Charlie knew the directions to anyplace you needed to go.  He loved people and seemed to know everybody.  He loved going on cruises with Barbara and when home, sitting in his chair, reading. Charlie loved to have fun with his family and working at the family business.  The family would like to thank the compassionate associates at Sunrise Assisted Living, who took such great care of him.  He will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Tuesday 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Wednesday prior to the Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church, Quincy at 10 AM. Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Charles may be made to Perkins School for the Blind, 175 North Beacon Street, Watertown, MA 02472.
