Antonakos, Charles G. of Braintree, passed away peacefully on October 9, 2015 at 90 years old.
Beloved husband of Elizabeth D. Antonakos for 65 years, loving father to four daughters, Stella Miller of Quincy, Elaine Zagami and her husband Lou of Norton, Pauline Zorzos and her husband Reverend Steven of Rockville, MD and Clio Antonakos of Norton.
Charles, or Gus (Kosta), as he was nicknamed, was the last survivor of a family of ten, including his late mother and father Styliani and George Antonakos, born in Mani, Greece, and brothers and sisters Johnny, Michael, Frances, James, Pauline, Nicholas, and Mary, born in Lowell, MA.
He proudly served in the US Marines (Pacific) as a Corporal during World War II. Returning home, he married Elizabeth (Betty), attended Dartmouth College and Bridgewater State, and for over 40 years taught math and science and served as a guidance counselor in the Weymouth School System.
He and his wife were so proud of all of their 6 grandchildren: John Miller Jr. and his wife Melissa of Weymouth, Lynn Miller, Gina and Toni Zagami of Norton, Dina Zorzos and her husband Pascal of Rockville, MD, and Anthony Zorzos and his wife Kathleen of Cambridge. He also experienced the joy of 3 great-grandchildren: Stevie and Dino Zorzos of Rockville, MD and John Paul Miller III of Weymouth.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the viewing on Tuesday from 10-11 AM in St. Catherine Greek Orthodox Church, Braintree followed by the funeral service at 11 AM. Burial in Westlawn Cemetery, Lowell.
