Charles F. Messer

Charles F. Messer, 80, of Quincy, formerly of Dorchester and Scituate, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 11, 2023 after numerous health issues. 

He was a loving son, brother, uncle, and friend. He was predeceased by his parents Dr. Edward C. and Mrs. Anne C. Messer of Dorchester, his sister, Barbara A. Hugo of Portsmouth, RI and Lancaster and husband Capt. William Hugo,his brother Fr. Paul A. Messer, SJ of Weston and sister in law Peggy Messer. He is survived by brothers Edward M. Messer of South Windsor, CT, Richard C. Messer and wife Ann of Haverhill, Robert G. Messer and wife Janice of Plymouth, and John Messer and wife Janice of Old Lyme, CT. Charles is also survived by twenty one nieces and nephews all of whom simply adored their “Uncle Charlie.” 

Charles retired from the City of Boston Veterans Services Department in 2002 after many years of devoted service. Charles had a kind and outgoing personality with a unique way to make people smile. He touched many people’s lives with his friendly demeanor.He will be fondly remembered and dearly missed 

The Funeral Mass will take place Tuesday, March 21, 2023, 11:30 AM at Sacred Heart Church, 386 Hancock St., Quincy followed by interment at New Calvary Cemetery in Mattapan. In lieu of flowers, a contribution in his memory can be made to the Jesuit retirement center: Campion Center, 319 Concord Rd., Weston, MA 02493.
