It is with a very heavy heart that we announce the passing of Charles Marshall Dillon on August 1st. 2024, the son of Warren Matthew and Margaret Marshall Dillon (both deceased). Charlie also leaves behind his children, Cameron Marshall, Timothy Michael partner Tonia Wheeler, and Meaghan Elizabeth and husband Billy Warnock. He also leaves his sister, Kat Dillon and brother, James Edward and wife Miriam Dillon, nieces Kaitlyn and Cameron Fletcher, nephews Aidan Dillon, Justin and Laura Schwarz, Evan and Wendy Schwarz, and the Marshall clan of the West Coast, cousins David, Pam (Howells), John and Dana, and Robert and Camille Marshall and more extended family and many many friends.
Growing up in Cohasset (MA) Charlie (Chuckles) was captain of the Cohasset Soccer Team, Hockey team, Pole Vaulter, swimming and diving for the Cohasset Swim Team, working one of his first jobs at the Red Lion Inn, and hosting his ever famous New Year's Eve parties. After graduating from North Eastern University and commanding an internship with General Foods company in Brewster, New York. Charlie was launched into corporate America spending over 20 years as a Vice President of Sales and Product Development in the software computer arena working for the likes of Nortel Industries, Bay Networks, Racal Datacom, and Micom Interlan. Around 2005, he launched Dillon Construction, LLC which unleashed a passion that had started in shop classes at Cohasset High School (MA). He worked on many projects, additions, and renovations for a variety of customers in northern Massachusetts and Florida. Charles also became an avid gun enthusiast - becoming a NRA certified range officer while working at Kittery Trading Post. He was very proud of the women's training program that he helped foster while at KTP. After many years living in York and Kittery Point, Maine, Charlie moved to Santa Rosa Beach, Florida trading in his snowblower for the beautiful white sands along County Hwy 30A. He enjoyed sharing many a sunset on the beach with his brother James and his wife, Miriam. To escape the summer heat he could often be found in his hometown of Cohasset, MA visiting with his 'brother', Doug (of another mother) and his wife Kathi and various friends on the South Shore, reliving some of his daredevil moves, golfing with friends and just hanging out in his favorite places, Bassings Beach & Cohasset.
Charlie's passion over the last 4 years was the resurrection of a 35ft., 1967 MCI5a Greyhound Bus that he purchased to live in for his retirement life. After years renovating the inside & out, Charlie and his bus made their maiden voyage (stopping frequently from overheating) up to New Hampshire to reconnect with his three grown children who lived in Maine, New Hampshire and Massachusetts.
Charlie passed on quickly and quietly in Cohasset the evening of August 1st in the company of Doug and Kathi Yaeger watching the ‘24’ Paris Olympics.
A graveside memorial will take place on September 14th, noon, at the 1st Parish Cemetery, Norwell, MA at the family plot, 'Dillon', the big black rock. This is an 'open' invitation to share a few moments together with a luncheon planned around 1:00 at Doug and Kathi Yaeger's house on Sohier Street in Cohasset. Please join us to share some memories of Charles and his life. Parking is available across the street at the old Joseph Osgood (School) now the library.
In lieu of flowers please feel free to contribute to the Animal shelter of your choice in memory of Charlie. He had many dogs whom he loved dearly.
Thanking you all for your contributions to Charle's life as those are the most important gifts you could give!
