Catherine Ruth Dilorenzo

Catherine Ruth (Doyle) DiLorenzo passed away peacefully on Sunday at 89 years of age.

She was the beloved and devoted wife of Anthony DiLorenzo for 73 years. Born in Randolph, Ruth settled in Weymouth following her husband’s return from World War II where she spent her life raising their children. Her four children, fifteen grandchildren, and fourteen great-grandchildren were the pride of her life. Ruth will be fondly remembered for her selflessness and devotion to them. Her greatest joy came from sharing in their accomplishments and careers. She was so proud when attending numerous family events such as weddings and college graduations, including the last one she attended at 80 years of age, when her granddaughter graduated from college in Montana. Mimi was the “Heart” of her large family and her memory and legacy will forever be part of so many lives.

Ruth worked in the restaurant business including the Golden Rooster in Scituate; she also helped to open several restaurants in Hanover and Weymouth where she supported her husband and her son, John in these projects. After the businesses were sold, Ruth and Anthony traveled including trips to Italy and France. They spent over 30 years as “snowbirds” spending time in Florida playing golf and enjoying wonderful friends. Her dearest friends “Birthday Girls of So. Weymouth” were very special and they all enjoyed delightful times together. Truly the most important things in Ruth’s life were family, friends, and church. She was a woman whose faith provided strength and joy. Ruth was very active in the St. Francis Xavier Sodality and the PM Club Evening Division of the Old Colony.

Her son, Anthony and his daughter, Sarah from Minnesota predeceased Ruth as well as her brother John Doyle, and her sisters Louise Driscoll and Mildred Connaughton all from Randolph. Ruth is survived by her devoted husband Anthony from So. Weymouth; her son Michael and his wife Laurie from Winchester; her Daughter in Law Jane from Champlin, MN; her daughter Ruth Lynch and her husband Philip from Hanover; and her son John from Ormond Beach, FL. She will be sadly missed by her cherished fifteen grandchildren and her fourteen great-grandchildren.

The family wishes to sincerely thank the staff at the Colonial Nursing Home in Weymouth for the exceptional care as Ruth struggled with dementia during her final years.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Wednesday 4-7 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital)  Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 9:00 AM Thursday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Francis Xavier Church, Weymouth at 10:00 AM.
