McGue, Catherine M. Gill of Quincy, died on Thursday, October 22, 2009 surrounded by her family. She was 89. The beloved wife of the late Russell H. McGue. Cherished mother of Margaret A. Mahan and her husband William of West Roxbury, Robert J. McGue and his wife Catherine of Bedford, James D. and his wife Ann, John F., Richard C. and his wife Denise, Kathleen M. Clifford and her husband Kevin, and Kenneth J. McGue all of Quincy. Lawrence P., and his wife Karolyn of Weymouth, Kevin J. McGue of Hanson, and the late Russell T. McGue. Loving sister of Margaret “Dolly” King of Quincy & Jeanne May of FL. Sister of the late Mae Zimmerman, Penny Cahill, Peter, Coleman , Joseph and Thomas “Sonny” Gill. Sister in law of Willis, Marie , John & Margaret McGue. The devoted grandmother of 22 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Catherine was proudly awaiting the arrival of her 5th great grandchild due in January 2010. A life long resident of Quincy, Catherine was a devout Catholic and longtime parishioner at Sacred Heart Church in North Quincy. As the years passed on, her devotion to her faith remained strong. When unable to attend mass she would watch the mass on television. Catherine’s talent in baking was always a highlight at the many family gatherings she hosted and cherished. Her love of gardening along with her green thumb made her the envy of the neighborhood. A favorite event for Catherine was going to BEANO. She enjoyed the simple things in life, as her happiest moments were spent with her family. She has left an indelible mark on all those who were blessed to have called her mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister or friend. As the matriarch of the family, Catherine’s life came to a peaceful end. As she had spent her life, filled with faith and devotion to her family, they returned that favor and surrounded her with their love as she concluded her journey . She will be sadly missed by all those who were part of the gift of her remarkable life. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours Sunday 3 – 8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock Street, QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 10:15AM on Monday, prior to the Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church at 11 AM. Burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Quincy.
