Catherine “Kitty” Shaughnessy

 Shaughnessy, Catherine  “Kitty”  (O’Connell)  of Quincy, formerly of Dorchester, originally from County Galway, Ireland, died unexpectedly on April 8, 2016.

The beloved wife of 54 years to Michael J. Shaughnessy. Loving mother of Bryan Shaughnessy and his wife Tricia of Braintree, Kevin Shaughnessy and his wife Christine of Norwood and Michael G. Shaughnessy and his companion Maria Vidal of Weymouth. Kitty is pre-deceased by 9 brothers and sisters. Cherished Nana to Meaghan, Caitlan, Brendan, Matthew and Daniel Shaughnessy. Dear Aunt of Mary Murphy, Margaret Naughton and Martin Walsh all of Milton. She is also survived by many other loving nieces and nephews in Ireland.

Kitty came over from Ireland in 1956, she spend nearly 30 years in Dorchester before moving to Quincy in 1986.  She enjoyed walking Castle Island and was a member of the Castle Island Association. She also enjoyed the many memories she created at the Irish Social Club. A devout Catholic – her faith was a very important part of her life,  but nothing was more important than her beloved grandchildren. They were the foundation of all that was truly important to her. She cherished them all. Kitty will be sadly missed by everyone who knew her, they are grateful for all the blessings she brought into their lives.  

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Tuesday 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday at 9:15am  prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Ann’s Church, Quincy at 10am.

Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Dorchester.
