Catherine (Jones) Clay

Catherine (Jones) Clay, age 92, formerly of Sharon, passed away peacefully at Linden Ponds in Hingham, MA on December 28, 2022.

Born in Buffalo, Cathy was preceded in death by her husband of more than 60 years, Frederick Guion Clay, and her parents, Richard Neville Jones and Kate Muriel (Henderson) Jones.

Cathy graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Goucher College in 1952. In Sharon, she was a member of the League of Women Voters and the Sharon Garden Club — she was also a skilled quilter and rug hooker. Cathy worked for the Sharon Public Schools, Visiting Nurses and Needham Housing Authority, and volunteered as a guide for Boston By Foot. In addition, she was an avid reader, traveler and family genealogist.

Cathy is survived by her three children: Rebecca Fairfax Clay of Santa Fe, NM; Richard Neville Clay of Tulsa, OK; and Amy Guion Clay of Boulder, CO; six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; and brother-in-law, Evan Clay, of Endicott, New York.

Services will be private.
