Carolyn S. Porteus

Porteus, Carolyn S. (Schumb) of Braintree, formerly of Milton, died January 6, 2018.

Carolyn was a proud graduate of Simmons College School of Nursing, who specialized in pediatric nursing and the care of premature infants at Boston Floating Hospital, prior to raising three children of her own. She was an active longtime member of the South Shore Simmons Club, as well as serving many years as the Vice President of the South Shore Humane Society. She was an inveterate reader with far-ranging interests, who also enjoyed knitting, quilting, sewing and other traditional handicrafts.

Beloved wife of the late Richard T. Porteus.  Loving mother Richard T. Porteus, Jr. of New Bedford, Karen Kidder of Pembroke, Susan Nedelman and her husband Gary of Brookline, NH.  Sister of Marie Galvin of IL.  Grandmother of George and Emma Porteus, Marissa and Jameson Kidder, and Sophia and Lucy Nedelman. Aunt of Siobhan Wee of IL and grand aunt of Thomas Wee of IL.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Wednesday 4-7 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 10:15 AM on Thursday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Ann’s Church, Quincy at 11 AM. Burial in Milton Cemetery, Milton.
