McCarthy, Carolyn M. (Hughes) of Fort Pierce, FL, formerly of Quincy, MA, died September 2, 2018.

Beloved wife of 59 years to Walter J. McCarthy, Jr. of Fort Pierce, FL, formerly of Quincy, MA.  Loving mother of Kelly Marie McCarthy Prada and her husband Robert of Fort Pierce, FL, Stephen P. McCarthy and his wife Beatriz of Madrid, Spain, Peter J. McCarthy and his wife Colleen of Arlington, MA, Kathleen T. McCarthy of Danville, CA, Dennis J. McCarthy and his wife Jodi of Saco, ME and the late W. Joseph McCarthy, III.  Devoted grandmother of 13 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.  Caring sister of James Hughes of Randolph, MA, Arthur Hughes of Fort Pierce, FL, Joan Elia of Fort Pierce, FL, John Hughes of Vero Beach, FL, Philip Hughes of Nova Scotia, Canada, Peter Hughes of Braintree, MA, Judith Trostel of Pembroke, MA and the late Patricia McLeod and Paul Hughes. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Carolyn grew up in Randolph, MA, and lived in Quincy, MA, for 40 years before moving to Fort Pierce, FL, where she has spent the last 20 years of her life.  She was a member of Sacred Heart Church in North Quincy, MA, before moving to Florida where she became very active in St. Mark’s Evangelist Catholic Church in Fort Pierce, FL.  She was a member of the Red Hat Society and enjoyed knitting and reading.  Carolyn’s main passion in life was her family and spending time with those she loved.  She will be remembered for her gentle and loving personality.  Carolyn will be missed by all those who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Friday, September 7, 2018, 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY, MA. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 10:45 AM on Saturday, September 8, 2018, prior to the Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church, Quincy, MA, at 11:30 AM. Burial will follow at Saint Mary’s Cemetery, Randolph, MA. A Memorial Mass will be held at a future date at St. Mark’s Evangelist Catholic Church, 1924 Zephyr Ave. Fort Pierce, FL, 34982.
