Carolyn F. (Galvin) Melanson passed away January 19, 2024 surrounded by her family from complications of Parkinson’s Disease. She was 84. Born in Boston, MA, Carolyn spent many years in Quincy, MA with her beloved late husband, Edward Melanson, Sr., raising her very active family, then enjoying their later and retirement years there before Ed’s passing.
For several years Carolyn greatly enjoyed working for and eventually retiring from Fidelity Investments in Boston where she managed the commercial leases for its US office locations. She was very involved in her kids’ activities as they were growing up, going to many a North Quincy High School swim meet and basketball game, being a Cub Scout Den Mom, and supporting the Girl Scouts. During vacations and after retirement, Carolyn and Ed enjoyed travelling to see new places and visiting family as often as possible.
Carolyn is survived by her daughter, Karen Melanson of California and her sons, Edward Melanson, Jr. of Colorado, and Paul Melanson of Delaware. Grandma to Samantha, Nick, James, Daniel, Edward, and Anne, and Great-Grandma to Colton, as well as Aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Mother of the late Michael Melanson, Carolyn is the daughter of the late Thomas and Frances Galvin of Dorchester, MA, and the sister of the late Thomas Galvin, the late Diane Laronde, and the late Janice Kenefick.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Mass on Saturday, March 16 at 10 AM, at St. Ann’s Church, 757 Hancock Street, Quincy. Burial will be at Blue Hill Cemetery in Braintree, with a reception to follow.
Mom loved flowers and plants. In her memory perhaps plant a tree, or consider a donation to the Parkinson’s Foundation or a charity that is meaningful to you.
