Carol F. Parsley

Carol Frances (Gilmore) Parsley – Carol passed peacefully, surrounded by her family, on March 10, 2017.  Carol was the beloved wife of William F. Parsley, Sr. for 56 years.  They married in 1960 and briefly lived in Lockport, NY and Raynham, MA before settling in Braintree 49 years ago to raise their family. Carol is survived by her daughter Maureen LaBonte and husband Dan of North Attleboro;  son William Parsley, Jr., daughter Cate Parsley, and daughter Joanne Blanchard and late husband Mike, all of Weymouth;  daughter Carolyn Parsley and wife Lib, daughter Mary Pistorino and husband Bob, daughters Nancy Daiute and Jean Parsley all of Braintree.  Carol was also a loving mother-in-law to Rita Parsley of Hingham and Chris Daiute of Braintree.

Carol is also survived by her 19 adoring grandchildren:  Kelly, Kaitlyn, Maddy, Jack, Nolan, Michael, Isabelle, Frances, Domenic, Rachel, Catherine, Luke, Jared, Noah, John, Will, Owen, Joe and Avery.  Carol took great pride in being their “Mimi” and found endless joy in spending time with them.  Whether it was playing board games, reading, tending to the garden, baking, or watching old black and white movies with them, she gave her love generously and her time patiently.  With her kind spirit and soft, encouraging words, Mimi was a guiding light whose home was a haven to all—an open door at all times where the simple joys and wonderment of childhood came to life.

Carol was the cherished daughter of the late John and Catherine (McCabe) Gilmore.  She was one of nine children and fondly recalled growing up with her family in Quincy Point.  Carol is survived by her brother Joe Gilmore and wife Joyce, and sister Helen Roche and husband Jim, all of Weymouth; sister Ann Nissle and Don of Plymouth; sister Bobbie Ellis of Brookline, sister Janet Riley and husband Tom of Bradford, NH; and sister Mary MacDonald and husband John, of Nova Scotia, Canada.  Carol was a loving sister to the late Jimmy and Judy Gilmore of Quincy.  Until her very last days, her brother and sisters had a major influence on Carol’s life.  She loved and appreciated each of them for the love, strength and support they unconditionally gave to each other.

Carol was a 1955 graduate of Quincy High School, and became a Licensed Practical Nurse at the Lemuel Shattuck Hospital in 1960.  After starting her family she devoted herself to raising her children.  Throughout the years her home and yard were the gathering spot for many.  Neighborhood kids, nieces, nephews, and her children’s friends were always welcome—whether for the day, the weekend or an entire summer! Carol’s door was always open and her kitchen table, the center of her home, was always full with unexpected visitors.  Anyone who entered her home was welcomed as part of the family.  Without hesitation, Carol always had enough room, food, love and patience for everyone.

Carol had a strong faith which guided her throughout her life, serving as a Eucharistic Minister and a catechist for 35 years at Sacred Heart Church in Weymouth and St. Thomas Moore Church in Braintree.  Until recently, she prepared meals regularly for the Pine Street Inn.

Carol is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and grandnieces/nephews.  She will be deeply missed by her dear friends, neighbors and all those whose lives she touched in her 80 years of life.
