Carol C. Young

Carol C. Young, a lifelong resident of Hingham, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on November 22, 2018. She was 76.

Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Mary (Carroll) Young and attended local schools. Carol graduated from Hingham High School with the Class of 1960. Following graduation, Carol’s career was in bookkeeping. She worked for Merrill Shoe and enjoyed her time working within the retail industry.

In her spare time, Carol enjoyed cooking. Her potato salad was famous and everyone loved her spaghetti with meatballs. She also enjoyed ceramic painting and scrap booking. Later in life, Carol became an avid reader and would often read a book a day. Her favorite genre was romance novels.

The most important part of Carol’s life was her family. She was the matriarch and was always involved with her family’s lives. Carol always kept up on everyone and would call to check in on a regular basis.

A woman of great faith, she had a strong belief in the Lord and a special devotion to St. Anthony. She was a selfless person who lived her life in accordance with the values of faith, hope and love.

Carol will be missed by all the lives she touched.

Carol was the devoted and loving mother of Julie and Sandra Young, both of Randolph. She was the cherished sister of Marilyn Young of Hingham, Grace Williams and her husband Robert of Florida, and Kathleen Young of Hingham. Carol is also survived by her four godchildren, Kathleen, Jason, Jacob and Jennifer and many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her siblings Nancy Nichols and Christine Arthur.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Wednesday, December 5th, from 4 through 6 PM in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), HINGHAM.

Her celebration of life will be conducted on Wednesday, December 5th at 6 PM.

At the convenience of the family, interment will be held privately and at a later date.
