Carol A. Courage

Courage, Carol A. (Kennedy), age 85, of South Boston departed her earthly life on March 6, 2021.  

Carol was born in South Boston September 22, 1935 and was the loving daughter of Jack and Mary Kennedy. Devoted mother of Tom Courage and his wife Mary, Stephen Courage and his wife Nancy, Karen Hawthorne and her husband Frank DiFrancesco, Laura Golden and her husband Rick, and David Courage and his wife Laura. Beloved sister of Jack Kennedy, Lois Miller, Frances Carrier, Tom Kennedy, and Lorraine Ahern. She cherished and loved so dearly the many grandchildren and great grandchildren she has as well. 

Carol adored her family and they were the light of her life. She enjoyed traveling, going on walks and being active, dinners with her sisters, and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She graduated from Bridgewater State University and worked as a registered nurse for 22 years at Carney Hospital and then at the Tufts Research Center from 1988-2006. She volunteered at Interfaith Social Services, Boston Harbor Islands, and at Southern Artery serving dinner to the residents. Carol was giving, generous, happy, upbeat, and would light up a room. She was always helping others and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. 

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Saturday 8:30-10:30 AM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY followed by the Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church, Quincy at 11 AM. Cremation will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Carol may be made to the Alzheimers Assn., MA Chapter, 309 Waverley Oaks Rd., Waltham, MA 02452 or to the American Cancer Society, 3 Speen Street, Suite 250, Framingham, MA 01701.
