Carmela Dimatteo

DiMatteo, Carmela “Kay”, age 84, of Scituate, died April 26, 2008 after a brief illness surrounded by her loving family. Beloved wife of the late Gennaro DiMatteo. A loving and caring mother and grandmother, Carmela is survived by her children: Ralph of Scituate, Gerald of Wellesley, Donna DiMatteo-Andrews of Paxton, Linda Horrigan of Quincy, Gene of Roslindale and Tess DiMatteo of Salem; her grandchildren, Jennifer, Jason, Melissa, Kristen, Laura, Nicholas, Allison, Justin, John and 1 great grandson, Jake. Sister of Rena Scarcella of Dedham, Eva Tarrara of Millis and the late Murry, Michael, Daniel, Nicholas, Albert, Thomas, Joseph, and Angie. A lifelong advocate for individuals with developmental disabilities, she was an artist, a teacher’s aid and avid volunteer. She was a perpetual student, taking classes at local universities well into her eighties. She graced most holidays with her own personal poems and hand painted cards. Carmela was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother whose life revolved around her family. Carmela was very active in her church; she served as a Eucharistic Minister at St. Mary’s in Scituate. She sang in the choir for many years at both St. Mary’s in Scituate and St. Joseph’s in Quincy. She was a remarkable woman who was open and receptive to all good. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral from the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St. QUINCY, Wednesday at 9 AM. Funeral Mass in Saint Joseph’s Church, Quincy at 10 AM. Visiting hours Tuesday 4-8 PM. Burial in Forest Hills Cemetery, Boston.
