Caren A. Mcweeny

McWeeny, Caren A. of Plympton, formerly of Hanover, died suddenly April 2, 2018.

Beloved daughter of the late Joseph McWeeny and Helen (Collins) McWeeny.  Sister of William McWeeny of ME.  Aunt of Jennifer McWeeny of Cambridge.  Dear friend of Cindy Snell of Plympton, Don, Jean, Tegan, Tara, and Jannah Murray all of Cambridge and Vermont.  Also survived by many cousins and dear friends.

Caren was a registered nurse and a wonderful advocate for the residents of the nursing facilities where she served for many years as Director of Nursing.

Caren’s passion in life was her dogs.  For over 45 years she raised, bred and showed Irish setters and later Labrador retrievers.  Her kennel name for the Irish setters was originally Kellarea and later McDerry and she co-bred the labs with Erinhill.  She was a longtime member of the Irish Setter Club of New England where she served on their board in various elected offices. Caren bred many champion dogs which were shown all over the country with her most famous being Devon – Champion Cucuhullain Good Fortune.  She will be remembered for her down to earth manner, infectious laugh, care and concern for others, and an advocate for wonderful dogs and good quality healthcare.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Tuesday, April 10, 4-7 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. Her funeral service will follow on the same day, Tuesday at 7 PM.  Caren’s urn burial will take place the next morning at 10 AM in Mt. Wollaston Cemetery.  Family and friends are welcome to gather inside the cemetery gates at the intersection of Southern Artery and Greenleaf Streets in Quincy.
