C. Teresa Simmons

Simmons, “Terry” Teresa, of Hull, passed away December 28, 2011, after a long illness. She was 68 years old. Teresa grew up in Cambridge. She graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1960. She trained to become a Licensed Practical Nurse at Long Island Hospital. She later earned her Registered Nursing Degree from Quincy College. She worked at several facilities throughout her career, including Long Island Hospital, Colonial Nursing Home, The Greenery Rehabilitation Center. She also became the staff development coordinator at Quincy Nursing Home. She instructed CPR classes at Quincy Junior College. Her career and her family meant everything to her. She was an active volunteer and was involved with the PTO, Sodality, HYFA, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Garden Club, Wellspring and St. Vincent de Paul. She was also instrumental in the state adopting Chapter 766, a special needs program for students. She was the loving daughter of the late Catherine R. (Tobin) Cumming and the late Hiram W. Cumming of Cambridge. Sister of the late Zita Murgo of North Andover, the late Marie Rogers of Hull, the late Hiram Cumming, Jr. of Cambridge and Edward Cumming of OK. Beloved wife of the late William J. Simmons of Hull, formerly of the West End. Loving mother of Teresa J. Simmons of Hull, Marie E. (Simmons) Romans of Weymouth, Anthony M. Simmons of Hull, William F. Simmons of Hull and Michelle S. (Simmons) Duran of Weymouth. Cherished grandmother of Jessica, Sean, Tiana, Tucker, Devon, Aidan and Eliana. She is also survived by many special nieces and nephews and will be greatly missed by all. We are grateful to the various organizations that have assisted our mother throughout her illnesses, especially Caregiver Homes, South Shore Elder Services, South Shore Visiting Nurses and Meals on Wheels. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Thursday 4-8 p.m. at the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St., Hingham. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Ann’s Church in Hull Friday at 10 a.m., followed by a Burial in Hull Village Cemetery. Donations may be made in lieu of flowers to the American Diabetes Association, 1 Bromfield Street, Boston, MA 02108 or to the American Lung Association, 460 Totten Pond Road, Suite 400, Waltham, MA 02451.
