Bruce W. Adukonis, of Quincy, Massachusetts, passed away on November 21, 2016, after eighteen months of treatment for stage IV lung cancer. Mr. Adukonis was born in Dorchester, Massachusetts, son of John P. Adukonis and Jeanne Adukonis. Mr. Adukonis’ early years were enriched by the love and care of his maternal grandparents, Albert Burgess and Rose Catherine Burgess.
A gifted musician, carpenter, and consummate host, Mr. Adukonis was the founding partner of Process Facilities Engineering, Inc., an engineering company known for innovation in the design of processing, pharmaceutical, and biopharmaceutical facilities both in the United States and abroad. Within ten years of its founding, PFI, Inc. had offices in Boston, Sacramento, and Philadelphia.
Despite his dedication to work, Mr. Adukonis’ heart was with his family, and he lived for the days and hours spent on Cape Cod with his loving wife, Noreen Messinger Adukonis, and his three children. Mr. Adukonis was devoted to his in-laws, and was embraced as a son by the late Marie (Flaherty) Messinger and Paul Vincent Messinger. Mr. Adukonis was loved as a brother by Paul VIncent Messinger, Jr., wife Ann Marie Glynn Messinger, Charles Martin Messinger, wife Maura Kennedy Messinger, Eileen Messinger Green and husband Donald Green, and Veronica Eileen Messinger.
Mr. Adukonis will be missed by his wife, Noreen Adukonis, and children, Andrew Martin Adukonis, Nora Rose Adukonis-Hughes, and Sarah Veronica Gray, as well as his devoted sons in law, Aaron Michael Gray and Andrew James Hughes, cousins Neil Burgess and Robert Dooley, and their families, his many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, neighbors, friends, and his cat, old fat Timmy.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Friday 2-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:30 AM on Saturday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Ann’s Church, Quincy at 10:30 AM.
