Bruce A. Sweeney

Sweeney, Bruce A. of Boston, formerly of Malden, passed away February 3, 2021.

Bruce was born to the late Edmund and Elinor Sweeney. After graduating from Boston University, he entered the United States Army serving during the Vietnam era. His professional career was spent as an Affirmative Action Compliance Officer with the Federal Government, and he continued his commitment to social issues after his retirement. Bruce was an avid reader and music lover, who enjoyed sharing his favorites with friends and family. He and his wife enjoyed travel, and visited many regions around the world. Bruce was a loyal friend, a kind and gentle soul, and could often be found enjoying laughs and sharing stories with his many friends.

Beloved husband and longtime companion of Barbara (Bertram) O’Connell of Weymouth. Loving brother-in-law of Kristina Boyle and her husband William of Plymouth. Also survived by many cousins and long standing friends.

Services will be private. Although we cannot gather together with Bruce’s family at this time, friends still may offer their support by clicking the link above to share a special message or memory.
