Bridget Coffey

Coffey, Bridget (Flaherty) of Quincy, died September 26, 2017, surrounded by her loving family.  She was a native of Moycullen, County Galway, Ireland.

Bridget’s family came first throughout her entire life followed by her devout Catholic faith and community involvement.  She adored her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Bridget attended daily Mass and found the good in everyone.  As a true humanitarian she cared deeply for people and prayed for them often.  She and her late husband Michael were members of the Irish Social Club in W. Roxbury for over 40 years and attended many of their events.  Bridget was also involved with the Irish Pastoral Center in Dorchester.  She took long walks along Wollaston Beach, enjoyed dancing, and became a friend to everyone she met.  She will be remembered for her happy and joyful attitude, thankfulness, angelic smile,  and infectious laughter.

Beloved wife of the late Michael Coffey.  Loving mother of MaryAnn Lawida and her late husband Ed of VT, Michael J. Coffey and his wife Gayle of Quincy, Theresa Manganelli and her husband Mark of Wilmington, Deborah Bode and her fiance Greg Grzybowski of CT, James M. Coffey of Quincy, Brendan F. Coffey and his wife Anna of NY, Tisha Newayno and her husband Rich of Milton, and Ellie McLaughlin and her husband Ray of Marshfield.  “Nana” to Caitlin Diaz and her husband Al, Sarah Holt, Michael P. Coffey, Jill, Michael & Scott Manganelli, Christiane & her husband Alessandro Boezio, Lauren Bode, Ava M. Coffey, Kristin Chazen and her husband Levi, Ashley, Rachel & Samantha Coffey, Richard & Seamus Newayno, and Liam & Patrick McLaughlin.  Great grandmother of Anthony & Oliver Boezio.  She was pre-deceased by 4 brothers and 3 sisters.  Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Sunday 2-6 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Monday prior to the Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church, Quincy at 10 AM.  Burial in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, West Roxbury.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Bridget may be made to the Irish Pastoral Centre, 15 Rita Road, Dorchester, MA 02124 or Quincy Council on Aging, c/o The Kennedy Center, 440 E. Squantum St., Quincy, MA 02171.
