Brian Joseph Fay, of Abington MA, passed peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday, October 30, 2022, at the age of 58. He was the husband of Michele (Palmer) Fay, of Abington and loving father to Brianna (Fay) Noble and her husband Paul Noble, of Abington, and Christopher Fay, of Abington.
Born in Boston MA on July 1, 1964, he was a son of the late Michael Fay and the late Geraldine (Cronin) Fay. Raised in Weymouth along side his 5 siblings, Brian was a 1982 graduate of North Weymouth High School. Growing up he enjoyed summers at the pool with his friends, cousins, and siblings.
Brian went on to build a 40-year career in environmental services, travelling throughout the country restoring the devastation left behind by natural disasters. His most impactful job being his time spent at Ground Zero following the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Due to the elements he was exposed to there, Brian would later develop interstitial lung disease, a devastating diagnosis that found him oxygen dependent.
In August of 2019, Brian received a life-saving double lung transplant. A procedure that gave him three more years with his family and loved ones. Brian spent those years becoming an adoring grandfather to Charlie Noble and Avery Noble. He looked forward to coffee hour with the family at his sister Rosemarie’s home on Sunday mornings. Golfing and spending nights at the Knights of Columbus with his son and childhood friend Eric McCarthy, where Brian was a proud member for over 20 years. Brian also spent many hours donating his time to the various causes and events run by the Knights. He enjoyed watching hockey and football games in the she-shed with his neighbor and friend Lenny Paoletta. And Friday night dinners with his wife, children, and grandchildren. And more recently, Brian enjoyed his long road trips with his brother Mike.
Brian was fortunate to be surrounded by so many loved ones who were there to help Brian and his family navigate this difficult health journey. We would like to thank those for all they have done.
Brian was survived by his siblings; Marianne Sheppard and brother-in-law Kevin Sheppard of Abington MA, Michael Fay and his wife Patty Fay of Wilmington MA, Richard Fay of Palm Coast, FL, Rosemarie Brown and her husband Craig Brown of Norwell MA, Kathleen Austrino and her husband Dominic Austrino of Palm Coast, FL. Brian is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
