Bernice M. (Meehan) Gallagher, a resident of Quincy for over 50 years and a woman truly devoted to her role as a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother died on Monday, January 7, 2013. She was 93. Bernice, who was affectionately known as “Ma” to her family, was born in Boston and raised in the city’s Dorchester section where she graduated from Dorchester High School. She lived in Dorchester and in South Boston for a brief time before moving to Quincy in 1957. The loving wife of the late Charles F. Gallagher, she was the cherished mother of Charles F. Gallagher, Jr. and his wife Kathy of Weymouth, Mary B. Robichaud and her husband Joe, Joan W. Gallagher, and Thomas J. Gallagher and his wife Nancy all of Quincy and a special “Ma” to her grandchildren; Chuck, Joe, Renee, Jamie, Joan, John, Jeff, Katie, Pat, Kristen, Tommy and Lauren and her great-grandchildren; Meghan, Joey, Kevin, Cullen, Vivian, Ryan and Owen. She was also the sister of the late Dorothy Lydon, Audrey Scarry, Rita Huss, Claire Pastor, Leo J. Meehan, Jr., Phyllis T. Doyle and Warren Meehan . She is also survived by her sisters-in-law Marie Meehan and Margaret Gallagher both of Quincy. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the Life Celebration Service in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY, Friday at 9:00 AM. Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church at 10:00 AM. Visiting hours Thursday 4:00-8:00 PM. Interment Pine Hill Cemetery.
