Bernice C. Mader

Mader, Bernice of Quincy, died February 12, 2016.  

Bernice was dedicated to her city and was passionate about being involved. She was active in politics, working as Mayor Sheets’ Executive Assistant, a member of the Democratic State Committee, Citizens Against Airport Noise, and founder of Red Tape Limited that helped women’s businesses get certified, just to name a few. Bernice was an advocate for citizens and volunteered for many things in Quincy. She also helped bring in many new restaurants and Ocean State Job Lot to the area. She was a driven, organized, and highly motivated woman. Bernice also loved to sing and was a member of the choir, sang at Veteran’s hospitals around the holidays, and at local piano bars. She taught at North Quincy High School and put on many productions in the drama department. For her family, she was the one to arrange the family reunions and made sure everyone kept in touch. Keeping up with the times, she got involved with Facebook to be updated on everyone’s lives. Bernice was a wonderful woman who will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Daughter of the late Ray and Jean (Fischer) Mader. Beloved sister of Suzan Mader and her spouse Debbie Davis of Charlestown, RI and Sandra Mader of Quincy. Also survived by many cousins, friends, and neighbors.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Tuesday 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A funeral home service will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10 AM. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Bernice may be made to the Lymphoma and Leukemia Society, Mass General Hospital, 55 Fruit St., Boston, MA 02114.
