Doherty, Bernard J. “Bernie” of North Quincy & Scituate July 11, 2004. Beloved husband of Virginia E. (Kelly) Doherty. Loving father of Bernard F.X. Doherty of Tewksbury, William J. Doherty, Esq. of Wilbraham, Francis P. Doherty of North Quincy, Elizabeth V. Sayers of Marshfield and the late Thomas Jude Doherty. Loving grandfather of Carrie Ann Doherty of Tewksbury and Brianna Elizabeth Sayers of Marshfield. Brother of George Doherty of Waltham, John Doherty of Medfield, Mary Doherty, Paul Doherty, both of Foxboro, William Doherty of Quincy and the late Edward Doherty and Sally D’Entremont. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral from the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., WOLLASTON Friday at 9 AM. Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church, N. Quincy at 10 AM. Visiting hours Thursday 4-8 PM. Burial in Pine Hill Cemetery, Quincy. Born in Boston, he graduated from Our Lady of Lords Grammar School and Cathedral High School, class of 1949. He also graduated from Wentworth Institute of Technology and Northeastern University with a B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering. He served during the Korean Conflict in the U.S. Air Force. He worked at Boston City Hospital and the Boston Post while in school. He later worked for Boston Edison as an Electrical Engineering Supervisor and Asst. Division Head in the Transmission/Distribution Dept. He retired after 32 years in 1988. Mr. Doherty was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church in North Quincy for over 40 years. He was a Charter Member of the North Quincy Knights of Columbus, a member of the Lower Mills Knights of Columbus, a member of the Elks, a member of the Morrissette Post, #294, and a member of the Boston Edison Retiree’s Club. He was also active in many local and civic associations. He enjoyed traveling and boating with his wife Virginia and children. His favorite memories were vacationing with his children and grandchildren on Martha’s Vineyard. He was known by all as a very devoted and hard working family man who doted on them.Donations in memory of Mr. Doherty may be made to Sacred Heart Church, 386 Hancock St., Quincy, MA 02171.
