Nolan, Bernard F. of Quincy, formerly of Dorchester, passed away September 18, 2011. Beloved husband of 48 years to Alice (Lent) Nolan of Quincy. Loving father of Mary Ann Nolan of Grafton, Frank Nolan of Westport, and James Nolan and his wife Dana of RI. Brother of Thomas Nolan of ME and the late John Nolan. Grandfather to Nolan, Madeleine and Ellen Cotton; Ryan and Lily Nolan; and James and Christopher Nolan. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. To Bernard, his family was the focus of his life. He was also very proud of the close friendships he maintained since he was a young boy. A veteran of Korea, he served his country with the United States Army. Bernard retired from the Boston Public Schools in 2003, as a Pupil Adjustment Counselor, after 40 years of service. He was a member of the Boston Teachers Union and the McKeon Post. He loved reading, walking and traveling with his wife and will be remembered for his sharp wit, thoughtful perspective and social nature. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Thursday 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home Friday at 9:15 AM prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Brendan’s Church, Dorchester, at 10 AM. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Dorchester. Donations in memory of Bernard may be made to Father Bill’s Place, Administrative Office, 422 Washington Street, Quincy, MA 02169.
