Bernadette Marie (MacDonald) McCarthy of Sandwich, died unexpectedly on July 13, 2015.

Devoted mother of Jacqueline Ann McCarthy and her fiancé Brian Pimentel of Taunton, James Gregory McCarthy and his fiancé Susan Ingalls of Worcester and Kasey Theresa McCarthy and longtime boyfriend Joseph Jraitiny of Forestdale. Former wife of David J. McCarthy, III. Daughter of the late Joseph & Theresa M. (Richard) MacDonald. Cherished sister of Dianne McNamee of Mashpee, Barbara Payne of Yarmouth Port, Robert MacDonald of Mashpee, Joseph MacDonald of Avon and David MacDonald of Billerica. Niece of Pauline Gillooly, Sr. Joseph Nelida with Sisters of Charity, Jeanette Twoomey. Bernadette is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Born and raised in Jamaica Plain, she graduated from Cardinal Cushing High School Class of 1975. She married and started her family in Brockton then moved to Mansfield where she raised her three children. Later in her life she moved to Cape Cod to be closer to her family. There she enjoyed her family, home, pets, shopping, movies, gardens, sunbathing and the beach. She loved nature and always had a special place in her heart for animals. The foundation of her life were her children, she cherished them and in return they adored her. Although they are heartbroken at the loss of their mother, they are grateful for all the blessings she brought into their lives. 

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Sunday 2-6 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., Quincy. A celebration of her life will be held at St. Ann’s Church, Quincy at 10 AM. Burial will be private. Donations in memory of Bernadette may be made to the MSPCA, 350 South Huntington Avenue, Boston, MA 02130.
