Duffy, Benedict J. Jr. M.D. of Hingham, January 18, 2005. Beloved husband of Alice (Boyle) Duffy of Hingham. Loving father of Alice Katherine Duffy of New York City, NY, Benedict James Duffy III and his wife Amanda Holmes of Washington, DC, and Rome, Italy and Clare Lewis Duffy and her husband Edmond Stack of New York City, NY. Cherished grandfather of Rosalind Holmes Duffy, Alexander Peter Duffy, and Elliot John Duffy. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Dr. Duffy was always involved with the local theatrical groups and was an avid sports fan of all the local teams, especially the Boston Red Sox. He was an oblate of Glastonbury Abbey and volunteered at the Pine Street Inn. Dr. Duffy was employed with Tufts Medical School in Boston but prior to that was employed at the following locations: Memorial-Sloan Kettering Hospital in New York City; University of Rochester on the Atomic Energy Project; Bethesda Naval Medical Center; London School of Hygiene in London, England; Georgetown Medical School in Washington, DC and Seton Hall Medical School in Newark, NJ. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral from the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), HINGHAM Monday at 9 AM. Funeral Mass in Church of the Resurrection, Hingham at 10 AM. Visiting hours Sunday 2 – 5 PM. Burial in High Street Cemetery, Hingham. Donations in memory of Dr. Duffy may be made to Glastonbury Abbey, 16 Hull Street, Hingham, MA 02043.
